Join us in celebrating ‘Fugitive Colours‘, the latest collection of one of Scotland’s favourite poets and former Poet Laureate, Liz Lochhead. Including both never-before-seen work as well as poems written during her tenure as Scots Makar, this latest offering promises to be an absolute treat for one and all!
Lochhead’s collection of work spans decades and stretches from poetry to Theatre and beyond. Her many accolades include winning the BBC Scotland Poetry Competition, the Saltire Society’s Book of the Year Award and the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry in 2015.
Throughout her career Liz Lochhead has been described variously as a poet, feminist-playwright, translator and broadcaster but has said that ‘when somebody asks me what I do I usually say writer. The most precious thing to me is to be a poet. If I were a playwright, I’d like to be a poet in the theatre.’
‘An inspirational presence in British poetry – funny, feisty, female, full of feeling.’– Carol Ann Duffy
**A few helpful things to know about our events**
~ The full price of your ticket is always redeemable against the book being launched at our events, this is why we call them Event Vouchers. It is our way of championing books and the authors we host.
~ Events last roughly an hour and usually involve a talk by the author, an opportunity for audience questions and a signing, when readers can come meet the author and have their books signed.
~ We offer a discounted ‘Collect Before the Day’ Event Voucher as a way of saying thank you to readers who book early, therefore helping us to plan seating, refreshments and staffing, so we can offer the best experience possible.
