The Literary Odyssey Fiction Book Group

The Literary Odyssey reading selection for May is House of Stone by Novuyo Rosa Tshuma.

Abed and Agnes’ son, Bukhosi, has gone missing. They desperately hope their son has runaway rather than been murdered by government thugs. Only the family’s lodger, Zamani, seems to have any idea what has happened to Bukhosi. Quiet, polite, and well-read, Zamani feels almost a part of Abed’s family – but ‘almost’ isn’t good enough for him. As he coaxes and interrogates Abed and Agnes on their often brutal and tender life stories, Zamani hopes to position himself in borrowed family history, so that he can fully inherit and inhabit its uncertain future.

The Literary Odyssey is an adult book group that aims to read contemporary fiction. We meet the last Wednesday of the month, where we meet for an hour chatting about the book – all the while sipping on wine and nibbling on a treat. We love new faces so please join!
