Founder of the Stirling-based crime festival Bloody Scotland, winner of the Scottish Association of Writers’ Constable and Pitlochry trophies, Alex Gray is well established at the heart of what’s now been termed ‘Tartan Noir’. At the forefront of Scotland’s tough, gritty crime fiction scene are many of her novels, and notably her series following Detective Lorimer.
Where Gray has carved a tremendous name for herself in crime fiction, Ballantyne delves into the darkness of the domestic to weave suspenseful and emotionally charged novels. The latest, Redemption Road, is steeped in the ghosts and sin that haunt many a family, she follows an estranged father and daughter, exploring the strength of family ties and our huge capacity for forgiveness.
Gray and Ballantyne will be unpacking their thrillers and exploring that everyday actions that underpin spine-tingling, nail-biting mysteries like their own.
