Rosie Steer's Celtic ancestors celebrated micro-seasons all-year round. Honouring these mini milestones has enabled her to reclaim wintertime, transforming it from something to fear into something to savour.
Gloaming is a collection of cosy crafts, soul-nourishing recipes and slow living activities inspired by stories and traditions from Scottish folklore, divided into four ancient seasons: Hairst (harvest), Samhain (Hallowe'en), Howe o'the Year (winter solstice), Waretym (earliest spring).
Revel in Rosie's step-by-step projects such as Clay Pressed Botanical Imprints and an Upcycled Hot Water Bottle Cover; relish her easy-to-make bakes such as Spiced Pumpkin Loaf Cake and Clementine and Almond Buns; and soak up folk stories of Scottish wintertime.
Rosie shows us that we can all find glimmers, even amongst the hardest times and the darkest winters.
Rosie Steer is the Edinburgh-based creator behind @everythinglooksrosie, where she embraced slow-living and found solace in the ancient nature-centric traditions of the Celtic Wheel of the Year after suffering with her mental health. She set up her newsletter and platform on Instagram as a place to track small moments of joy through the seasons and fostered a loyal following in the process. She lives and works in Edinburgh.
