Image of Kathleen Jamie launches Surfacing

It’s surprising what you can find by simply stepping out to look. Award-winning poet Kathleen Jamie has an eye and an ease with the nature and landscapes of Scotland as well as an incisive sense of our domestic realities.

This new volume, Surfacing, completes a trio of books in which Kathleen talks about the natural world in her lyrical and elegant prose. Kathleen’s love of the great outdoors shines throughout and we’re very excited to once again welcome her to the bookshop. This will be an evening to leave you longing to feel the sea breeze on your face.

Born in the west of Scotland in 1962, Kathleen’s first travel book, Among Muslims, was described as ‘utterly luminous’ (Observer) and ‘one of the most powerful accounts by a contemporary Western writer’ (TLS).
