We’re so looking forward to welcoming the wonderful Katherine Rundell to the bookshop this October for her new book The Golden Mole – a glorious bestiary of the world’s most extraordinary endangered animals, a treasure trove of vanishing wonders.
Did you know a pangolin’s tongue is longer than its body? Or that a swift flies two million kilometres in its lifetime? Or that, if put to a race, a wombat could outrun Usian Bolt?!
Each of these animals are extraordinary. And each of them may soon disappear from the earth. The Golden Mole is a chance to be awestruck and lovestruck – to fall for the likes of the wondrous pygmy elephant, the seahorse, the narwhal and, as astonishing and threatened as them all, the human. It is a chance to reckon with the beauty of the world, its fragility, and its strangeness.
