This Halloween we’ll be opening our doors to a man who needs no introduction: Mr. Hugh Bonneville. Beloved for his award-winning roles in Downton Abbey, the Paddington series, The Monuments Men, Notting Hill, and many more besides, Hugh comes to tell us about his fantastic memoir, Playing Under the Piano: From Downton Abbey to Darkest Peru.

From getting his big break as Third Shepherd in the school nativity play, to navigating Highclere Castle’s complex Labrador policies, surprising Hollywood encounters, Hugh creates a brilliantly vivid picture of a career on stage and screen. What is it like working with Judi Dench and Julia Roberts, or playing Robert de Niro’s right leg, or not being Gary Oldman, twice?

Whether telling stories of working with divas, Dames or working with an invisible bear with a penchant for marmalade, the beauty of Hugh’s memoir lies in its attention to the people and events surrounding him. At times poignant, Hugh proceeds with great emotional power when discussing his Father’s struggle with dementia, and also brings to life his Mother, whose career in the secret service only emerged after her death.

So come join us at Younger Hall for what is bound to be one of the highlight of our events season!
