Children's Book Club

Every first Sunday of the month 10am - 11am.

Next meeting is the 2nd of July.

We're changing the format of our book club so that every month YOU will choose the books YOU want to read!

This month everyone in the book group has chosen: The Monsters of Rookhaven by Pádraig Kenny and R.J. Palacio's Wonder.

The Monsters of Rookhaven by Pádraig Kenny:

'Mirabelle has always known she is a monster.'

When Jem and Tom see a shimmer in the darkness they stumble into the world of Rookhaven the magical home of Mirabelle and her unusual family. The glamour protecting Rookhaven is torn and growing distrust, fear and hatred from the local village threaten to destroy their peaceful existence. But who are the real monsters in this story.

A wonderful gothic novel, beautifully written.

Wonder by R. J. Palacio:

10 year old Augie just wants to be an ordinary kid. Born with a facial abnormality he has been homeschooled but is now being sent to real school where all he wants is to be accepted. A thought provoking and uplifting book. 

You can book on to the club here or at the bookshop at £5 per place. This voucher entitles to you to redeem against the price of either the chosen book, or a book of your choice in the Children's section on the day of the book group.

If you already own a copy of the book, please bring it along and you can redeem your place voucher against any other book in the Children/Teen section.

Please note that parents for the Children's Book Club must stay in the shop at all times, but we would be delighted for you to enjoy a pot of tea or coffee while you wait.
