Children's Book Club

Children’s book group Sunday 4th June 10.00am

The children’s book club will be held on the first Sunday of the month and is open to ages 9-12. We will be discussing Goodnight Mister Tom by Michelle Magorian and also I, Spy: A Bletchley Park Mystery by Rhian Tracey. Just choose which one you’d like to read, or both and come and join in the discussion!

Goodnight Mister Tom is hailed as a true classic of children’s literature. Nine year old evacuee, Willie Beech, is evacuated from his painful and poverty stricken life in London to live in the countryside under the care of the gruff but kindly Mister Tom where he begins to thrive. Both are unprepared for the journey ahead and the bond of friendship that forms. A beautiful and moving story of love, kindness and hope.

I, Spy is an exciting adventure set in Bletchley Park at the outbreak of World War II. Twelve year old Robyn lives in Bletchley Park where her father works as a driver. She is asked to help with the care of the carrier pigeons but it isn’t long before she becomes convinced there are sinister goings on and decides she must investigate, getting her friends Ned and Mary to help.

Places are £5 and you can book on in the bookshop or on our website. Your £5 voucher can be used against any children’s book in the bookshop on the day.

Please note that parents for the Children's Book Club must stay in the shop at all times, but there is a constant flow of tea or coffee for you to enjoy whilst you wait.
