‘Utterly delicious in every way’ — Joanna Lumley

We are thrilled to welcome Celia Imrie, beloved star of stage and screen,  and Sunday Times bestselling author of Not Quite Nice and Nice Work (if you can get it), to St Andrews in celebration of her latest novel, Sail Away. An Olivier award-winning actress, Celia Imrie returned to the stage in King Lear in 2016, but is best known for her film roles in The Best Exotic Marigold HotelCalendar Girls, Nanny McPhee, Bridget Jones’s Baby and Absolutely Fabulous. She co-stars with Joanna Lumley, Timothy Spall and Imelda Staunton in Finding your Feet, due for release on 23 February.

Celia Imrie’s new book Sail Away tells the story of Suzy Marshall, who is learning how scarce work is for an actress over sixty. When Suzy takes a job on a cruise ship to pay her return from an ill-fated role in Zurich, she bumps into Amanda Herbert, a woman taking the cruise to wait out various personal crises. The pair set off on a fantastic adventure, not predicting the strange characters, dodgy dealings, or unexpected rewards that lie ahead of them.
