Few things are more charming than reading a good book, set in a location that you know like the back of your hand. James Oswald and T F Muir and not only two of the biggest Scottish crime authors, but they are both Fife-based writers and storytellers that return to the East Neuk again and again. We’re delighted to be hosting them together for an evening of St Andrews crime fiction.

T F Muir is the man putting St Andrews on the literary map, and his latest novel, Dead Catch, is a brilliant new contribution:

When Joe Christie’s fishing boat is swept onto Tentsmuir beach during a fierce storm, a man’s mutilated body is found in the hold. DCI Andy Gilchrist of St Andrews CID is called in to investigate. But his murder investigation deepens when he learns that Joe Christie and his boat have been missing for three years. Gilchrist and his partner, DS Jessie Janes, set off along a murderous trail where they uncover a plot involving drug shipments and police corruption, and come face to face with a man for whom human life means nothing.

James Oswald is no stranger to the bookshop, and we’re thrilled that he’ll be joining us again for the next instalment in the utterly compelling Inspector McLean series:

A mummified body is hidden in the dark corner of a basement room, a room which seems to have been left untouched for decades.  How long has she been there, in her sleep of death? The answers are far from what McLean or anyone else could expect. The truth far more chilling than a simple cold case…
