Historian, writer and broadcaster Simon Schama has been delighting the British public with his pithy, clever and accessible approach to history for many years. From the brilliant History of Britain television series, which first brought him wide fame and national affection, to Simon Schama’s Power of Art he has opened our eyes to aspects of our past and culture. As a true polymath his interests range from the power of landscape to provoke both memory and a sense of identity to the socio-historical importance of baseball.

Now he turns his attention to the rich and complex history of the Jewish people with the first volume of The Story of the Jews. The accompanying television series, which aired in September this year, was hailed as evocative and ‘a resounding success.’

This will be a sparkling evening with a huge figure. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear one of the greatest historical commentators of his generation reflect upon his career, life, and the history of a most varied and fascinating race.
