Our doors are closed, but we’re still able to post books to you!
In July 2005, friends and fellow writers Robert Macfarlane & the late Roger Deakin travelled to explore the holloways of South Dorset’s sandstone. Robert’s ensuing book Holloways describes their journey through hot summer days as they traced the wild routes and the histories of sunken, steep-sided, wheel-rolled, rain-rushed and food eroded hollows. The word Holloways comes from the Anglo-Saxon hol weg and its ancient lineage encapsulates the landscape of shadows, spectres and great strangeness which the two wayfarers experienced. Robert is always an enthralling speaker and we are especially pleased to welcome him back to the shop for what is sure to be a spellbinding evening.
