How to be an English language tourist with David and Hilary Crystal
Monday 14th October 2013
St Peter's Church, Broad Street, Ely, CB7 4AH
7.30pm

From south-east Kent to the Scottish lowlands, and south-west Wales to the East Anglian coast, David and Hilary Crystal’s latest book Warriors and Wordsmiths explores the transformation of English-language across landscapes through a fascinating travelogue. Uniting invasions and warriors from the Anglo-Saxon period to the poets, scholars, reformers and others who have moulded its character since. This evening promises an intriguing insight into the chronology of language and its implication on our personality.
David Crystal is an engaging speaker and a prolific writer, who is revered for his contributions to the study of language. His events with us have always been incredibly popular and so it is with great pleasure that we welcome him to Ely, together with his wife and co-writer, for another!
