This October, we are overjoyed to be hosting internationally-beloved comedian, writer, and actor, Rob Delaney. Rob joins us alongside Scottish comedic icon, Frankie Boyle, to talk about Rob's deeply moving memoir, A Heart That Works.

In 2018, Rob and his family tragically lost their 2-year old son Henry. Two years prior, Henry was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Amidst hospital life, surgeries, chemotherapy and a newfound community of carers, his family learnt the starkest truths about life. Two years later Henry died, and his family watched their world fall away to reveal the things that matter most.

A Heart That Works is Delaney’s written expression of the experience; an intimate and fiercely funny exploration of what happened – from the harrowing events, to the vivid, bodily impact of grief and the blind, furious rage that follows, through to the forceful love left behind.

In the madness of his grief, Delaney grapples with the fragile miracle of life, the mysteries of death, and the question of purpose when you’re the one left behind. This memoir will offer solace to those who have faced devastation – and help those who haven’t understand where the true meaning of life is found.

This will be Rob's only Edinburgh date on his whistle-stop national tour. So come and join us for a night to remember with one of the world's most acclaimed comedic talents!

Rob Delaney is an American comedian, actor and writer. He is widely known as the BAFTA-winning co-creator and co-star of the critically acclaimed Channel 4 and Amazon Prime comedy Catastrophe, which broadcasts in over 130 countries.
