Join Bath-born authors Nigel and David Lassman on a journey into the heart of wartime Bath to celebrate the launch of their new book – Bath At War 1939-45. Their new book is comprehensive account of the city’s experience of the conflict, covering in detail life on the Home Front set against the background of the wider theatres of war.

During the ninety minute walk you’ll discover, among many other things, where the original nerve centre of the city’s Civil Defence organisation was located, what was the epicentre of the Bath Blitz, experience present-day stark reminders of those two nights in April 1942, and learn some of the stories behind the names on the War Memorial at the entrance to Victoria Park.

The Lassman brothers were born and educated in Bath. Nigel has written about local & family history, railways and the air war in Malaya. David is known for the Regency Detective novels, Frome in the Great War and The Awful Killing of Sarah Watts, as well as his love of music and Jane Austen. This is the brothers’ first collaboration together and the result is explosive!

We will meet at 10am at the bookshop for coffee, walk begins at 10.30am until 12 and then back to shop for signings and brief talk.
