Emma Grazette spent 3 years as head development chef at The Spicery in Bath, which supplies spices, blends and recipe boxes to Britain’s top restaurants and chefs including The Fat Duck, Rick Stein, Hibiscus, Ottolenghi, Moro, Atul Kochar, Sam Bains and thousands of home cooks.

Spice Trip is the beautifully illustrated book which accompanies a major new prime time Channel 4 series. Emma (along with co-writer and presenter Stevie Parle) travels to six countries to learn about the spice they produce. They learn about the history of each spice, how it is used therapeutically, see how the locals cook with it and experiment themselves. Black Pepper in Cambodia, Chillies in Mexico, Cinnamon in India, Cloves in Zanzibar, Cumin in Turkey and Nutmeg in Grenada – each location is a stunning and stimulating backdrop to some of the simplest, mouth-watering dishes.

A visceral journey for the senses, Spice Trip show us that with confidence and basic know-how we can revolutionise the flavours of our favourite foods with just a touch – or sometimes a lot – of spice.
