Katy Mahood and Sam Guglani discuss how their work has inspired their fiction. Guglani is a consultant oncologist and director of Medicine Unboxed.  His debut novel Histories is a hypnotic portrait of hospital life, over one week. In the corridors and consulting rooms, by the bedside, through the open curtain, we witness charged encounters within the emotional and physical world of medicine. Mahood’s debut explores the byzantine threads that weave and sometimes unravel relationships. By exposing the profound impact that we have on defining one another, Mahood calls upon the reader to recognise their own responsibility in influencing those around them.
