The artist Peter Brown is no stranger to the residents of Bath. He can often be spotted with his easel and oil paints on the local pavements, braving all weathers to capture the charm of this glorious city.
Peter’s latest book is a real departure from his usual scenery. My Indian Travels follows Brown’s journey through the sweltering pathways of Udaipur, India. In this colourful record of his trip to the bustling ‘City of Lakes’ we see him at his best: the golden light of dawn creeping over Bara Bazzar; speeding tuk tuks and vivid saris glimpsed along the thronging Battiani Chohotta; to the hazy dust-filled heights atop the fort at Kumblegargh. Peter has captured this bustling region with unrivalled alacrity and beauty.
Come and hear the artist reminisce about his journey to India and get a chance to see exclusive previews of works in progress – a perfect opportunity to gain insights into Brown’s forthcoming solo exhibitions at Messum’s gallery in London and Bath’s very own Victoria Art Gallery.
