Acclaimed poet, editor, and translator Maurice Riordan will be discussing his superb anthology Wild Reckoning. Wild Reckoning marks the fortieth anniversary of Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring, a book which single-handedly raised public awareness of environmental issues and provoked the emergence of the green movement virtually overnight.
Wild Reckoning draws together newly-commissioned poems by, among others, Seamus Heaney and Andrew Motion, as well as other poems ranging from Wordsworth to W.S. Merwin which might be reread in the light of Carson’s groundbreaking book.
This will be a great opportunity to discuss of a wide range of poetry with a poet and teacher of unusual distinction.
