We are delighted to be welcoming Kathleen Jamie to Bath to launch her latest collection – The Bonniest Companie!

One of Scotland’s best loved contemporary poets and essayists Kathleen has no shortage of accolades; she has been awarded the Forward and T S Eliot Prizes, Eric Gregory and Somerset Maugham Awards, amongst many others. She is currently Chair of Creative Writing at Stirling University and has a world of insight to offer aspiring poets and poetry readers alike.

This latest collection is infused with what Robert Louis Stevenson called ‘a strong Scots accent of the mind’ and, written through the highly energized year of 2014, draws rich reflections on a momentous year for Scotland. Having decided to write a poem a week for the year, this latest work considers the changing nature of a fascinating country and a nation’s imprint on family and childhood.

The Bonniest Companie is a visionary response to current events and an intricately beautiful document of our times. Kathleen has succeeded at capturing the essence  of a Scotland on the cusp, conjuring whole worlds on the page that highlight the many contrasts of today’s Scotland.

Come along for an evening of readings and discussion and meet one of Scotland’s most interesting and exciting contemporary poets!
