Max Porter joins Jessie Greengrass to discuss her original and intelligent debut,  Sight – a moving, fiercely truthful novel – a woman recounts her progress to motherhood, while remembering the death of her own mother, and the childhood summers she spent with her psychoanalyst grandmother. Woven among these personal recollections are significant events in medical history: Wilhelm Rontgen’s discovery of the X-ray; Sigmund Freud’s development of psychoanalysis; John Hunter’s attempts to set surgery on a scientific footing and the artist Jan van Rymsdyk, on the anatomy of pregnant bodies.

Grief is the Thing with Feathers (recently adapted for stage) is Max Porter’s sensational and bestselling novella – a profound meditation on love, loss and Ted Hughes.

This will be an evening of extraordinary and thrilling contemporary fiction.
