Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has cooked his way through MeatVeg and Fish, winning us over with his simple and inventive recipes, and now he tackles fruit!  Delicious, colourful, and health-boosting, it is pretty much the perfect food.

However, for all the virtues of fruit, we still don’t quite know what do with it. An apple or banana in a lunch box is all very well, but fruit is so much more versatile than that – and we don’t eat nearly enough of it.

The 180 tasty, fun and easy recipes in River Cottage Fruit Every Day! (also a new TV series) will extend your experience of fruit into exciting new territory. Using seasonal British ingredients as well as exotic ones, the recipes include marinated lamb and fig kebabs, venison stew with damsons, parsnip and apple cakes and zingy salads as well as gorgeous puddings.

It is easy to see why Hugh has become a byword for culinary excellence in Britain: his knowledge, enthusiasm and creativity are without parallel. We can’t think of a better person to peel away the misunderstandings surrounding this ubiquitous but under-appreciated food group.
