In his new book, The Making of the Middle Sea, Cyprian Broodbank takes a comprehensive look at the development of the Mediterranean, from the dawn of mankind to the classical era.
For millennia the Mediterranean was a cockpit of human endeavour – trade route, battleground and the crossroads of diverse civilisations, including the Egyptians, Greeks and Minoans. The Making of the Middle Sea is the first truly holistic exploration of how the societies, cultures and economies of the Mediterranean came into being.
UCL professor Broodbank, a mine of information about this fertile and turbulent region, will lead us on a spellbinding journey between lands and ages.
