In recent years, cider has undergone a drastic shift in public image: no longer just a cheap option at the bar, it’s now a taste for the discerning drinker and a cause for celebration in its own right. World’s Best Cider is a tantalising new volume in which Pete Brown and Bill Bradshaw explore cider’s rich history – taking us from its modest origins as a thirst-quencher for farm workers, to its present status as a sophisticated rival to champagne.
Both Bill and Pete are cider gurus; Pete is also the author of Man Walks Into a Pub: A Sociable History of Beer and Shakespeare’s Local, and is a past winner of Beer Writer of the Year. This will be a special chance to celebrate the taste of the humble scrumpy with fellow enthusiasts.
