Since his award-winning debut Quite Ugly One Morning, Chris Brookmyre has established himself as one of Britain’s leading crime novelists, and the only writer to win two Sherlock Awards. The Glaswegian author’s novels – a mix of comedy, politics, social comment and action with a strong narrative – are a genre all of their own, dubbed “Tartan Noir”.
Flesh Wounds, said to be his darkest and most complex book yet, will be the subject of the evening. Oozing with drama, the novel is based around two very different detectives, one battling her demons and the other chasing her ghosts. The two women will ultimately confront the secrets that have entangled both of their fates since a murder that changed everything. Brookmyre’s innovative and dark sense of humour has always added a distinctive twist to the crime genre, and his latest novel is no exception. We have been very lucky to snap him up for an event – it’ll be an evening full of intrigue, and an opportunity to really get under the skin of this unique author. A real must for fans of crime with a difference!
