Named for the cliff-side street upon which the School of English is perched, The Scores is an online literary magazine edited, compiled, and managed by postgraduate students in the University of St Andrews’ Creative Writing Department. The magazine publishes an international range of poetry, prose, reviews, and art from both established and emerging writers in English, Scots, and other languages of Scotland. We celebrate the magazine’s third issue with a reading from the esteemed poet and Issue 3 contributor David Harsent.
David is the recipient of many prizes and accolades, including the Forward Prize, the TS Eliot Prize, and the Griffin Prize, and is the author of eleven collections of poetry (including Legion, A Bird’s Idea of Flight, and Fire Songs) as well as libretti, crime fiction and television scripts. His latest publication, Salt, totters on the edge of the fragmentary, with intense and primal pieces. These complete and singular visions shed light upon one another to construct a mineral, elemental, and engaging serial text.
