Internationally published food writer Sumayya Usmani will be transporting readers with the tastes, scents and stories of her Tamarind kitchen with a live cookery demo in the Bookshop!

Sumayya will be introducing the exquisite flavours of her new cookbook Summers Under the Tamarind Tree, a  celebration of the varied, exciting and often-overlooked cuisine of Pakistan. Infused with the heritage and traditions of her home country, the 100 or so recipes of Sumayya’s delicious new book are paired with memories of a happy childhood spent in the kitchen with her grandmother and mother.

Pakistani food is influenced by some of the world’s greatest cuisines. With a rich coastline, it enjoys spiced seafood and amazing fish dishes; while its borders with Iran, Afghanistan, India and China ensure strong Arabic, Persian and varied Asian flavours. Sumayya brings these together beautifully showcasing the exotic yet achievable recipes of Pakistan.

Full of stories and tips, Sumayya is as fun and joyful as her new book and her visit promises to be a fabulously memorable and delectable one for foodies!

Please note that all early bird places have now sold out & the venue will be the bookshop and not, as previously advertised, at St Andrews Town Hall. We apologise for any confusion.
