Nicholas Kenyon, former Director of the BBC Proms and the current Managing Director at London’s Barbican Centre, joins us for an online evening event celebrating the publication of The Life of Music.

To book places, preorder your signed copy of The Life of Music here. Each copy of the book includes access to the online event. We’ll send the event link to the email address you use to complete your order, 24 hours before the event.

Kenyon explores the narratives that make up the classical tradition and looks at that music through the experience of real performances.

From pianist Myra Hess’s performance in Blitz-ravaged London to John Adams’s composition for mourners of New York’s 9/11 attacks to Italian opera stars singing from their balconies amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, The Life of Music argues that, no matter how great the crisis, music has the power to bring us together.
