Susan Hill is the much-loved author of many books including The Woman in Black and I’m the King of the Castle. Jacob’s Room is Full of Books is the long-awaited sequel to her best-selling memoir Howard’s End is on the Stairs. Considering everything from Edith Wharton’s novels through to Alan Bennett’s diaries, Virginia Woolf and the writings of twelfth century monk Aelred of Rievaulx, Susan Hill charts a year of her life through the books she has read, reread or returned to the shelf. She reflects on what her reading throws up, from writing and writers to politics and religion, as well as the joy of dandies or the pleasure of watching a line of geese cross a meadow. Susan’s writing is full of wry observations, warm humour and strong opinions freely aired, and this is a rare and wonderful opportunity to hear from one of the nation’s most accomplished authors.
These specially reduced event book vouchers must be collected from the bookshop before Tuesday 21st November.
These event book vouchers can be collected at any time, including on the door of the event.
As our event book vouchers have a redeemable value, we do not post them out. They are available for collection from the bookshop at any point before the event (and there is often a slight incentive with this option), or alternatively they can be collected on the door of the event.
If you require more than 10 places, please contact the bookshop for a group booking so that we can arrange to seat you together.
The full price of your voucher is an advance book deposit against a copy of the book featured at the event, which also guarantees admittance for one person. Event book vouchers are redeemable at any point up to and including the day of the event, but not afterwards.
Meeting people at the bookshop is the best part of being a bookseller, so the discounted price for collection in advance is a little incentive for you to come and visit us before the day of the event itself!
In order to maintain the great value of our event book vouchers, we have to reduce administration to an absolute minimum. This means that we aren’t able to refund or exchange event book vouchers.
