Rebecca Stott, Cambridge based author of the critically acclaimed Ghostwalk and The Coral Thief, returns with a triumphant new book, Darwin’s Ghosts: In Search of the New Evolutionists. A retelling of the story of the few men who had the vision to speculate and examine nature’s ways, putting their political and religious reputations at stake for the sake of scientific investigation, Darwin’s Ghosts highlights the ancestors of evolution, the men who came before the most famous evolutionist of them all. With her usual mixture of deft, beautiful prose and insightful comprehension of her subject, Rebecca Stott reveals the half-forgotten giants whose work laid the foundations for The Origin of Species.

Rebecca is a fascinating speaker with a real knowledge of the subjects she engages with in her books: this will be a really interesting evening that – like Rebecca’s books – blurs the boundaries between the critical and the creative, the scientific and the mythic.
