We are thrilled to see the return of Ely newspaper man Philip Dryden in Jim Kelly’s latest novel Nightrise, which is set here in the Fens.  Having lost his father in the floods of 1977, Dryden is shocked and confused when the police inform him that his father has been killed in a car accident. He soon realises that there are links between this and his current case. Philip Dryden is a great literary creation: complex, full of very real emotion and difficulty, and always entangled in the most fascinating mysteries. Jim Kelly is a tremendously engaging speaker, and his local research provides endless points of interest.
