We regret that this event is now sold out!
The world has changed immeasurably in the last twenty years, and fiction has had to change with it. Most of us remember the way that we were taught to read and think about novels at school, but what happens to fiction after 2000, when emails and mobile phones have superseded the narrative device of the letter? How and why are recent novels talking about terrorism, the environment, multicultural Britain and the Internet? What has changed- and what has stayed the same?
With all those questions in mind, come along and join Rebecca- one of our fiction booksellers, who is completing a thesis on post-2000 fiction- for a day of thought-provoking questions and (hopefully) some answers. This will be a really relaxed study day, with informal discussion, lunch and coffee provided; you don’t need to do any reading beforehand, but we can almost guarantee you’ll want to do some afterwards!
