Mike Parker will be guiding a walk along the Bath Skyline and talking about his new book The Wild Rover.
The Wild Rover is a brilliant, intelligent and witty exploration of a glorious and passionate British subject – footpaths and our rights of way. Taking in the Enclosure Acts, great ramblers’ battles such as at Kinder Scout and Winter Hill, the post-war establishment of National Trails like the Pennine Way and modern battles between ramblers and the likes of Nicholas van Hoogstraten and Madonna, the book casts a wide net over the tangled history of land and our access to it.
This is a great opportunity to not only go for a fantastically beautiful walk in Bath, but also learn about the history of the footpath.
We’re meeting at 11am for coffee and cake in the bookshop and setting off on the walk at 11.30am. Bags can be safely stored at the bookshop during the walk.
