Mark Doty is widely recognised as one of the finest living American poets, praised by the New York Times for his “dazzling, tactile grasp of the world”. He is the first American poetry to have won the T. S Eliot Prize for Poetry for My Alexandria, and his latest collection Deep Lane has been shortlisted for the 2015 T S Eliot Prize.  This is an absolutely brilliant collection of poems, proving Mary Oliver true: “One of the things that has been constant about Mark Doty’s work, poetry and prose, is his intense search for the exact word or phrase, of whatever issue, which lead him (and us) into the very furnace of meaning within the human story.”

This is a very rare visit from to these shores by the great American poet.
