We start the new year by reading one of my very favourite recent novels. Bret Easton Ellis and the Other Dogs is a masterful piece of writing that defies accurate description. Set in the sun-baked area surrounding Barcelona, the plot revolves (from a variety of distances) around the character of Alba Cambo, a short story writer whose tales inevitably end in the gruesome deaths of its male characters. The cast, however, is broad and varied. Everyone has their own stories, desires, histories. The novel, rather than being a route from one point to another, is a space in which existence organically occurs.
Join the group for an evening of bookish conversation, accompanied by a glass of wine and some small nibbles.
