January’s reading group provided a fantastic opening to 2017, and was attended by a mix of lovely faithfuls and brilliant newcomers. Our February selection is Hannah Kent’s Burial Rites. It is a masterful debut effort that combines the grip and pace of thrillers with the deeply compassionate touch found in the very best literary novels.
The group meets the day before our event with the author for her second book, The Good People, providing a perfect opportunity to have your questions answered, and to get to know a young author whose star is rapidly brightening.
As always, there will be wine, wine gums, and other various nibbles on offer. Talking books with you all is the perennial highlight of my month, and the warmth and candour in our group is, in my opinion, without peer. If you love fiction, please don’t be shy! We always welcome new faces.
