This month we are reading the stunning debut novel from one of the most exciting young novelists around. The Still Point is a beautifully written evocation of a faltering marriage intertwined with the tragic story of an ill-fated arctic explorer. It is a novel largely defined, appropriately, by the still moments, in which the action is muted but the emotional power reverberates and pulses.
As always, there will be tea, wine, wine gums, and other various nibbles on offer. Talking books with you all is the perennial highlight of my month, and the warmth and candour in our group is, in my opinion, without peer. If you love fiction, please don’t be shy! We always welcome new faces.
