The founder of Handheld Press, Kate Macdonald, will join us in the bookshop to give a talk in celebration of the fifth anniversary of the independent publisher, based here in Bath.
Macdonald is a literary historian, editor, reviewer and a former lecturer in British literature and cultural history. She has published over fifty books, chapters and articles of her own research on twentieth-century British book history and publishing culture.
“Since I set up the company in 2017 we’ve grown steadily, and will have published 31 books by 9th June 2022…We’ve developed two very successful kinds of Handheld book: anthologies of classic supernatural short stories, and great novels and biographies by forgotten storytellers, undeservedly out of print for many decades. In 2022 we’ll be publishing three supernatural anthologies, and four lost classics, and we could not be more excited about these terrific books.”
It will be an entertaining, literary evening as Macdonald regales us with stories of book publishing and book case histories! Your entrance voucher is redeemable against any Handheld Press titles.
