We are delighted to welcome the former Bishop of Edinburgh, esteemed writer and broadcaster Richard Holloway for the launch of A Little History of Religion.  Humane and perceptive, Holloway’s History of Religion is an empathetic yet critical study of a deeply complex subject.

One of the most extraordinary churchmen of our time Holloway’s calm, considered voice has consistently stood against fundamentalist certainties both theist and atheist. He brings deep humanity, compassion and integrity to bear on this charming, erudite survey of religious creeds, faith and the search for meaning. Written for those with faith and without it, Holloway guides us in taking up a questioning, reflective stance towards religion.

Taking in the Far East, Middle East, Europe and America A Little History of Religion is both wide ranging and concise.  Holloway considers belief before articulated religion, right up to present-day concerns with religious violence, secularism and religion beyond the ‘Big Five’ of Judaism, Islam, Christianity, Buddhism and Hinduism. This latest in Yale University’s widely respected Little History series, is immensely timely and brilliantly crafted.
