***We are sorry to let you know that Michael Ondaatje has had to postpone his upcoming engagement with Topping & Co. St Andrews, and as a result will not be visiting the bookshop this year.

Michael is in the final stages of finishing a novel and cannot be with us next week, he is keen to do a reading in St Andrews at a later date and we hope to announce a rescheduled event early in the new year.***

Micheal Ondaatje has one of contemporary literature’s most distinguished reputations and we are honoured to be celebrating his extraordinary writing with him.

Ondaajte’s renown is built on an oeuvre that dissolves the established boundaries between prose and poetry, image and intellect, thought and feeling. He is an astonishing writer, perhaps best known for his Booker Prize winning novel The English Patient, the award winning Anil’s Ghost and thirteen exquisite collections of poetry.

Born in Sri Lanka, raised in the United Kingdom and now a Canadian citizen, Ondaatje held a lifelong ambition of making his mark on the world literary stage, with over twenty brilliant books and innumerable prizes to his name, he has certainly achieved that.

On this rare visit to Scotland, we are honoured to host this very special event, exploring the works and interests of this exceptional man.
