Monique Roffey was nominated for the Orange Prize in 2009 for her bestselling novel The White Woman on the Green Bicycle, and her second novel, the luminous and beautiful Archipelago, won the OCM BOCAS Prize for Caribbean Literature. Her work often focuses on postcolonial questions of displacement, addressing difficult issues in stunningly lyrical prose. Her new novel, House of Ashes, focuses on a dangerous uprising in an imagined Caribbean republic. Moving between the perspectives of a man stuck in a fight that he does not support and a woman trapped in the government buildings under siege, House of Ashes is a moving and thought-provoking examination of a real-life rebellion that still haunts the Caribbean.

Monique is a wonderful and passionate speaker with an incredible story to tell. Don’t miss this event with a fabulous author at the pinnacle of her career.
