Free Invitation: Molly Peacock in Ely
Wednesday 3rd August 2011
Photograph: Hauser

The Paper Garden is a rich and poetic account of Mrs Delany, a Georgian lady who blossomed into creativity in later life, making intricate paper flowers. Part biography and  part history lesson about the eighteenth century, this is a richly informative and lively book full of fashion and friendships, gossip and politics, letters and love. Molly Peacock’s The Paper Garden opens up a wide and fascinating window onto Georgian England while cultivating a deep appreciation of Mrs Delany’s unique artistic talent.

Just as de Waal’s The Hare with Amber Eyes explored his family history through netsuke, Molly Peacock explores Mrs Delany’s life through her lovely creations.

Venue: The Bookshop, CB7 4LJ

This event is free for newsletter subscribers. Please RSVP to the bookshop to reserve your complimentary places. Tickets for non-subscribers are £6/5 with £6/5 off The Paper Garden.
