Join us for an evening with acclaimed poet Ruth Padel who will be talking about her new book. The Mara Crossing is a sensitive collection of poems and prose which looks at the concept of human and animal migration. Beginning with the first living cell, Padel covers many locations and species, from the Kenyan Mara River which gives the book its name, to the English Oak and the founding of Rome. The book explores what it means to be human by linking us to animals and their journeys. Ultimately, “we are all from somewhere else.”
This outstanding new piece of work from the prize-winning author of Darwin: A Life in Poems and Tigers in Red Weather is a must for anyone interested in our place within the nature and history of our planet.
