Writer-adventurer Richard Grant’s Crazy River: A Plunge Into Africa describes the first descent down the unexplored Malagarasi River in Tanzania, known by the locals as “the river of bad spirits”. The journey begins with Grant encountering thieves in Zanzibar and crossing the Indian Ocean in a small cargo boat before he reaches the river itself. Once he has begun his descent he faces all kinds of unexpected and dangerous situations including dodging bullets, navigating through swamps and avoiding hippos and crocodiles; and all on a raft!  Crazy River is a daunting yet thrilling tale full of the challenges, excitement and escapades faced by any modern-day adventurer.
