“Ominous yet deeply tender, surreal yet undeniable. I could not look away.” Saba Sams, Send Nudes

The Unreliable Nature Writer depicts an unsettlingly warm world under the strain of intimate and global anxieties. Delightful to read and unsettling to imagine, these are haunting stories about love, loss and strangely-exposing housing applications.

Tessa Hadley is the author of six highly acclaimed novels and three short-story collections. In 2016 she was awarded the Windham Campbell Prize and the Hawthornden Prize. She teaches literature and creative writing at Bath Spa University. Her stories appear regularly in The New Yorker, Granta and other magazines.

Richard Kerridge is a nature writer and literary critic. His debut, Cold Blood: Adventures with Reptiles and Amphibians, chronicling his lifelong fascination with British reptiles, amphibians and their meanings, was published by Chatto & Windus in 2014. His nature writing has appeared in Granta, Poetry Review and BBC Wildlife. He leads the MA in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University

Claire Carroll lives in Somerset and writes experimental fiction about the intersection of nature, technology, and desire. Her short stories and poetry have been published by journals including Gutter Magazineperverse, Lunate Journal, The Oxonian Review, and Short Fiction Journal, as well as shortlisted for The White Review’s Short Story Prize.
